Support Girls Rock Philly's 4th Year!

As many of you know, and some of you don't, for the last year and a half, I've been volunteering for a great nonprofit organization called Girls Rock Philly!

Girls Rock Philly is a non-profit summer camp serving girls ages 9-17. The program uses music education as a tool to empower young girls, explode gender stereotypes, promote confidence and creative expression, and assist in the development of rocking out! At camp, girls of diverse backgrounds and varied musical experience choose an instrument, form a band, write an original song, and perform it in front of a live audience at their showcase. And they do it all in one week!

As part of our mission, Girls Rock Philly never turns away any potential campers due to lack of funds – which means that fully half of GRP campers come from low-income backgrounds and are on scholarship.

I'm excited that Girls Rock Philly's fourth camp starts on Monday, August 8! I'm reaching out to you, to ask for your support of this award-winning, all-volunteer program in two ways:

1) Attend the Girls Rock Philly Showcase--If you live in the Greater Philadelphia area--join me at the Girls Rock Philly 2010 Showcase on Saturday, August 14th at 12:30 pm at the Trocadero at 1003 Arch Street, Philadelphia! Tickets are $10, and you can buy them in advance or purchase them at the door the day of. It will be a great afternoon of our camper-bands rocking out!

2) Donate the Cost Showcase Tickets Directly to Girls Rock Philly--If you don't live in the Greater Philadelphia area, or you will be out of town--donate the cost of a Showcase ticket (or 2 or 10) to Girls Rock Philly! It's completely tax-deductible! You can do this online.

Thanks in advance for your support of this amazing organization!

Cheers!
Alison
